Undeclared Martial Law?

LAAF Seizes Skye Merchant JumpShip at Gibbs
[22 February 3071; FSP] “We were given no reasons. Simply boarded at the Gibbs nadir point by a squad of armored marines and ordered to disengage our jump computers. Most of my crew were placed in “protective custody” at the nadir station, and my officers and I were held under guard aboard ship. A caretaker crew of Lyran spacers came aboard to keep the ship together. My DropShips were sent planetside.”
That was the radio message captured by a passing freighter as it moved through the Gibbs system en route to Donegal. The freighter, the Yerby Dell out of Garrison, managed to recharge and jump before any LAAF forces could board them, although the captain did report seeing several intrasystem craft headed his way.
“Yeah, I saw those boats headed our way,” Captain Janovek told us. “A pair of lighters, they were… or maybe those escort things, the armed shuttles they make in League space? I wasn’t sure—the old girl’s optics aren’t what they used to be. But I figured from all the traffic—and all of it dark, no transponders, so its pirates or military so I don’t want no part of it—that we’d better get out of there. We charged and jumped, and then jumped again as soon as we could.”
Sensor data from the Yerby Dell was hopelessly corrupted, so no corroborating evidence is present to support a military interdiction of Gibbs, but these reports are growing. Has the Word of Blake struck again? Is Gibbs the victim of another biological attack like Galax and Alarion before it?
